چکیده
Background The UK government's reckless and incompetent response to Covid-19 has produced an outcome which is amongst the worst in world, arguably terms of deaths per 100,000 population major countries (especially when one measures mortality from Covid cause death on certificate, rather than own measure-death a tested individual within 28 days testing). This article updates my initial analysis this journal over year ago, traces negligent shambolic policy-making, supine official scientific advice, led such dismal outcome. Methods It does so by examining policies approach government begining pandemic (in terms, January 2020) up June 2021. All relevant declarations, speeches, decisions, public interviews were noted daily basis, examined critically assessed-along with data information whole period Covid's threat to, spread across, UK. Conclusions On three successive occasions, Boris Johnson his compliant Ministers acted too late weakly prevent avoidable illness. At time writing vaccination programme been destabilised government-yet again-having failed secure its borders, against Delta variant (Indian mutation) virus. Overall, border control, quarantine, testing, tracing, isolation timely enforced lockdown, put short-term, superficial considerations above coherent strategy. dressed incompetence as libertarianism defence economy, but thereby managed achieve all worlds egregious failures-appalling health outcomes; (ironically) worse economic damage took draconian action; (also ironically) continually recurring restrictions result earlier failure take strong action suppress keep it at bay. Public reaction England (unlike Scotland Wales) shenanigans not commensurate that level failure, sadly reflects debasement political culture England.

This is foremost a methodological contribution. It focuses on the foundation of anticipation and the pertinent implications that anticipation has on learning (theory and experiments). By definition, anticipation does not exhaust all the forms through which the future affects human activity. Accordingly, guessing, expectation, prediction, forecast, and planning will be defined in counter-distinc...
متن کاملSubset-lex: did we miss an order?
We generalize a well-known algorithm for the generation of all subsets of a set in lexicographic order with respect to the sets as lists of elements (subset-lex order). We obtain algorithms for various combinatorial objects such as the subsets of a multiset, compositions and partitions represented as lists of parts, and for certain restricted growth strings. The algorithms are often loopless an...
متن کاملHow Did We Get Here?
W hen we talk among ourselves about our business, we use lots of abbreviations and acronyms. We take a lot of things for granted. To understand what I’m talking about all you need to do is try to explain how you get paid to somebody. AWP, WAC, discount, PBM, RA, EOB, DIR, copay, insured amount, rebate, clawback, etc. This is the barrier we face when talking to legislators. We are in a complicat...

I t is rare that science owes a debt to law. To lawmakers, surely, such as those who regularly make generous appropriations to the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. But law, in the sense of the process and products of litigation? It’s hard to imagine. But this special supplement is deeply in debt to law in just that sense. The funding that supports the research ...
